Green Cross Code / When you're young
A pretty rare single, a.k.a. "Hackney Accident Prevention Committee" or RoSPA.
The single was issued for the Road Safety Campaign, probably around 1969 or 1970.
Side A, "The Green Cross Code Song", is not a Magna Carta song. Magna Carta were not even involved in this. You hear a female school teacher,
explaining in spoken words to small children how to cross a road. It ends with some sort of singing by the teacher
and the very young 'Children of Argyle School, Camden'. (Not much of singing, to be honest.)
Side B, "When you're young", is a charming song to teach the children about crossing roads. Written by Peter Hart, R.S.O. Camden, and
sung and performed by Magna Carta: two acoustic guitars and two vocals (lead vocals by Chris, accompanied by Glen).
"When crossing roads, always stop and look both ways. Remember this every minute of every day. Put safety first..."
There are at least three different versions of this single, two in yellow and one in green.
